The Most Inspiring Travel Movies: Europe

Romance and complicated relationships definitely belong to the movies located in Europe. What could possibly create better settings to these themes than bohemian european cities full of small, shared secrets or the verdant countryside?

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS (2011)
Woody Allen's movie leads us to France - the current and the 1920's. Owen Wilson performs Gil, who lives in his own fantasy world and that way get's a chance to meet the legends of the departed world such as Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso and Salvadon Dali. This movie made me fall in love with Paris again, even I have always recognized it one of the few cities I never want to return.

VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA (2008)
Another Woody Allen's artistic film about two american girls who during their trip to Barcelona get rotated by different kind of relationships, one weirder than another. Among the messed up relationships, audience also get's a little taste of a spanish atmosphere full of accents and music.

LEAP YEAR (2009)
This film is the right choice for audience who enjoys romantic movies. American girl Anna is supposed to travel to Dublin to propose her boyfriend as the irish tradition tells to do. Because of the several unfortunates, she doesn't get to Dublin in time and that's why she needs to ask help from the irish innkeeper. After the eventful roadtrip through irish landscapes, Anna needs to choose between her successfull boyfriend and visceral irish innkeeper. Irish countryside is represented as grand rocks and wide fields - such the way I remember them myself.

UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN (2003)
Diane Lane performs a woman who after a ruff divorce decides to travel to Italy, falls in love with an old italian house and moves in the heat of the Tuscan to fix her heart again. A sunny good-mood film full of beautiful landscapes of a italian countryside. A real summery stimulation shot for everyone who loves the boot country filled with some romance.

TO ROME WITH LOVE (2012)
Surprise, surprise again a romatic Woody Allen movie where different kind of human fates gyrate together in the everlasting city. The roman cityscape and the italian music charm the audience even if the story itself is a bit confusing and the lesson of the movie doesn't open at least to me. A positive thing about the movie is that it's talked in english and in italian, so it's not only a travel advertisement but also suits for a student of an italian language.

Here you can check out my other film recommendations located in AfricaAsiaNorth-America and India - and also general travel movies.
